Next Wave Learning Foundation provides mentorship, tutoring, and adaptive learning experiences that help young people build resilience, confidence, and purpose.
Next Wave Learning Foundation is a nonprofit organization based in Colorado Springs, Colorado, dedicated to empowering young people through mentorship, academic support, and inclusive experiential learning. Founded by Dr. Michael Kofford, a U.S. Army veteran and healthcare professional, the foundation was built on the belief that when a young person's future is at stake, meaningful guidance and enrichment opportunities should not be limited by financial barriers.
Our programs bring together structured tutoring, mentor-led life skills seminars, and hands-on experiences like FlowRider surf sessions to help students build resilience, discover their strengths, and prepare for what comes next. Whether a student is recovering from a setback or looking for direction, Next Wave Learning provides the support and community to help them move forward with confidence.
Life moves in waves. Some waves lift us forward with momentum and confidence, while others knock us down and challenge us to regroup and rise again.
The Next Wave philosophy reflects our belief that resilience grows through learning, adaptation, and supportive community connections. Students today face rapid change in technology, education, and the workforce. Developing adaptability, emotional resilience, and curiosity is more important than ever.
Our programs encourage students to prepare for their "next wave" by building academic skills, developing healthy relationships with mentors, and discovering their unique strengths.
Our programs are built around three core elements that work together to support the whole student.
Structured tutoring designed to strengthen classroom performance, study habits, and learning confidence through individualized support and goal setting.
Short, interactive seminars focused on resilience, leadership, curiosity, and personal development guided by caring mentors.
FlowRider surf sessions and adaptive activities that encourage students to step outside their comfort zone and celebrate progress together.
Whether you're a school, organization, potential donor, or community member, we'd love to hear from you.
